The Fort Mill Knights baseball stadium was built in 1989 and served as the triple-A?minor league baseball?team’s home up until 2014.
April 2014 the Knights opened their Spring season at their new home in downtown Charlotte, NC. The new state of the park is called the BB&T Ballpark.
Early summer of 2014 York County sold the Fort Mill land and stadium to Cato, a Charlotte based women’s clothing retailer. ?One of the requirements of the land sale was to demolish the old stadium.
By early March 2015 the picture below was all that remained of the stadium.

So what is next for the fate of the stadium property?
Cato purchased the stadium property to add to their previuous purchase of 265 acres surrounding the stadium. Cato with the help a development company not yet announced, plans to create a master planned development for?office, retail, apartments and a hotel space.
Now that the stadium is gone, Fort Mill should change the face of the water tower, now painted as a baseball to a strawberry to represent the annual Strawberry Festival.
