NerdWallet Says, “Fort Mill is a great place to settle down and purchase a home.”
Fort Mill Times Editor Michael Harrison featured an article this week about Fort Mill making on another “best of” ?list. The list Mike is referring to is NerdWallet’s “Best Cities for Homeownership in South Carolina”.
NerdWallet indicated South Carolina’s population had increased more than 15% in the first decade of 2000, which was one of the fastest growing states. ?Their survey analyzed 51 cities or towns in SC to determine the best 10 cities to consider for relocation and purchase a home. Fort Mill ranked number 6.
Reasons why Fort Mill ranked in the top 10?
- Monthly cost of being a homeowner is only 25.4% of median household income
- Proximity to a major city – Fort Mill rests along the I-77 corridor in the northernmost part of South Carolina. Charlotte, N.C., metropolitan area offers many educational, recreational and employment opportunities.
- Recreation – Fort Mill is near Lake Wylie with many recreational opportunities.
Mike did correctly point out in his article, although NerdWallet mentioned high ranking school for other cites in their the top 10 list, they failed to point out the Fort Mill School District is currently ranked number 1 in the state.
