Would you LIKE TO HELP provide school supplies for a child in need? The Foundation for Fort Mill Schools summer school supplies drive is going on now. Talk of the Town Fort Mill goes behind the scences to find out more about this school supply drive. Patti Mercer interviews Executive Director Lynn Ringley and Shutterfly’s Tabithia Engle to find out more about what you can do to help the school drive, what the students need, and where you can drop off supplies this summer.
It is estimated 23% of Fort Mill School students are considered?in poverty. Some schools may have up to 40% of their students population in financial need for school supplies.
The Foundation collects school supplies all year, but has a special focus on school supply donations in the summer months. Many organizations have become drop off locations like the Miller Realty Group to help our Fort Mill students get ‘Class Room Ready”!
A special thanks goes to Anne Springs Close who donated $15,000 this year to give a boost to the school supply program. In addition to this grant, the central school supply room to store and distribute supplies located in Dolby’s Bridge Elementary, was named Mrs Moore’s Supply Room. Susan Moore who passed away, was a long term Fort Mill teacher who believed in making sure every student had the resources for a successful education.
