The Boys & Girls Clubs of York County hosted their 25th annual Growing Great Futures Gala on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Baxter Hood Center in Rock Hill, SC. The celebrity speaker was the?former heavyweight boxing champion, Evander Holyfield.
Talk of the Town Carolinas went to the Gala. Host Patti Mercer had a chance to interview the champ Evander Holyfield to find out more about his history with and support for the Boys & Girls Club. Patti also interviewed Daniel Hopper, Board Member/Gala Chairman, Chief Executive Officer Grace Lewis, Gala Committee Member Zenon Butts, and Gala Emcees CN2?s Laurabree Monday and WSOC TV?s Keith Monday to find out why the Gala and cause is so special.
This Gala is the Boys & Girls Club main annual fundraising event to support the growing 8 location clubs in York County. The B&GCs goal is to raise over $150,000. The night included a silent auction, dinner, live auction, raffle and a Keynote speech from Evander Holyfield. Initial reports from the Boys and Girls Club indicate they surpassed their goal and raised more than a $157,000.
