Five new members were inducted into the Fort Mill School District Hall of Fame with a ceremony on Tuesday, February 20.? Talk of the Town Carolinas was at the ceremony to find out more about the 5 new 2017 Hall of Fame inductees which includes Lee Carothers, Anne Springs Close, Jane Langley, Stormy Young, and Simon Algah White, Sr.
The Fort Mill School District Hall of Fame was established in 2016 to honor graduates of Fort Mill School District schools and other persons who have made significant contributions to the school district, their communities, their states and/or our nation. Anyone in the community can nominate a candidate for the FMSD Hall of Fame. Once the nominating period closes for the year, The Hall of Fame Committee selects five candidates for School Board approval. The 2016 Hall of fame Inductees were; Francis Murray Mack, Sr., Harold ?Mac? McCallum, Phoebe B. McCallum, J.H. ?Hoss? Nesbitt, Alfred Oscar ?A.O.? Jones.
This year the ceremony was held in the new Fort Mill School District Training and Support Center at 2233 Deerfield Drive in Fort Mill. The Hall of Fame plaques are on display in the atrium of the Training Support Center for the public to see.
