How To Help The Humane Society York County

The Humane Society of York County (HSYC) is a local non-profit organization dedicated to the humane treatment of animals (dogs and cats). HSYC is an independent no kill facility, funded by grants, adoptions, fund raising activities, thrift shop sales, and donations from our generous supporters. Patti Mercer, Talk of the Town host, interviewed HSYC chairman Mary Beth Knapp to learn more about the center and how we can help.

Here are just a few assistance needs mentioned in the video:

Adopting a Cat or Dog from HSYC helps fund needed facility care. You must be 21 years old among other qualifications to adopt a pet.

Donations – Donations of money or care items are always welcomed at the shelter. Since the cat population is normally 3 to one dog, non clumping cat liter is always needed. Bleach for washing towels is in need. You can also donate items to to sell at their thrift shop

Volunteering – ?Here are some ways you can volunteer. Fostering cats or dogs, donating your time at the shelter, or there are jobs that need to be done outside the shelter including task you can do at home.

HSYC’s PAWSibilities Thrift Shop offers bargains on clothing, children?s clothing, toys, books, kitchen and decorative housewares, jewelry, purses, and more! All of the items for sale are donated by members of the community. Money raised from sales at the Thrift shop help fund HSYC. The Thrift Shop to shop or donate is at 2144 Carolina Place Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29708.
