Josh Myers and Scott Rohrer are two local York County Special Olympic athletes headed to the 2019 Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi. Talk of the Town Carolians went to a fundraiser at Clover High School. Watch our video to learn more about them and Area Eleven Special Olympics.
Special Olympics SC Area Eleven provides sports training and competition to over 1,600 athletes in York, Chester and Lancaster counties. Area Eleven is a volunteer based organization and welcomes volunteers and sponsors for its athletes. We interviewed Director Kathy Covington to find out more about the program and the athletes.
Two of Area Eleven’s awesome athletes, Josh Myers ( a power lifter) and Scott Rohrer ( a golfer) have been selected to compete as members of Special Olympics USA at the 2019 Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi, March 14-21. Several fundraising events have been set up to help financially support the families going to the World Games. Patti Mercer was able to interview Josh, his mother Elizabeth, girlfriend, and Scott at the Jamming for Josh and Scott held Sunday Feb 24th, 2018 at Clover High School. The event included BBQ, back sale, an auction and several local musicians and bands all helping to raise money.
