Nearly half of all American households plan to move at some point in the future. Why are people moving??Some will move for a larger or nicer home, or perhaps to purchase a home for the first time.
The Demand Institute surveyed more than 10,000 households about their current living situation and what?s important to them in a home and community.
Survey responders said the location of their home is as important as or even more important than the physical home itself. The top location-related reasons to move was for a safer neighborhood. The other reasons that scored high are; closer to family, change to climate, closer to work, or a new job.
Moving to suburbs is still the highest demand, but moving to the city center has also increased in recent years. For those moving to or within the suburbs, bigger, more affordable homes are stated as reasons, but safer neighborhoods is considered to be the most considered reason.
Those with school-age children care about good schools; those in the workforce want to be close to their job; others want to be in walkable areas near entertainment, services and public transit; and some prefer not to be too close to anything at all.
To some up Demand Institutes survey? safe, well-kept streets and quiet neighborhoods remain the hallmarks of the ideal home location for many Americans. I would suggest looking no further than our Fort Mill – Tega Cay area. In fact Tega Cay was recently recognized as the safest city in South Carolina. See our post at ?TEGA CAY IS THE SAFEST CITY IN SOUTH CAROLINA.
